Contribute: this is an open educational resource for the Critical Analysis of Images.
Categories: There are various categories for submitting and critiquing images on CAISSIE (capitalism, gender, history of seeing, images for professions, mass media, globalization, the future). If you have photographs that provide insight into the current conditions within these categories just follow the instructions to submit both the image and a brief written analysis that addresses the photo’s importance to the critique of culture.
Note: Video instructions on how to take a good photo and the points to cover in your critique coming soon.
Use of CAISSIE: Anyone is allowed to use the images and their critical analyses. All images and analyses will be vetted to assure usefulness. These contributions should be particularly useful for teaching aspects of Visual Culture.

The foundation of the CAISSIE website is a WordPress installation that resides with hundreds of other sites on an institutional multisite setup at Thompson Rivers Univesity managed by the Learning Technology & Innovation group.
Along with WordPress we used the following plugins to add the necessary functionality to the CAISSIE website:
- Toolset Suite – Used To create custom post types, views, forms, searches, etc. to capture and display the information submitted to the website
- Relevanssi – Used to include custom fields, categories and tags in the site search
- Smush – Used to automatically to process and reduce the size of the image submitted to the site.
