Assignment 1 Part A
The image presented above is an advertisement by the company Pandora found on the outside of a jewelry store in Kamloops BC. The advertisement features a range of jewelry products with a clear focus on their unique charm bracelets.
The ad is very minimalistic in colour and design. The muted background colours compliment the silver used in their jewelry. The centre features a charm bracelet, necklace, ring, and charm all with clear themes of nature. Towards the bottom is large text reading, “Inspired By Nature” with the sentence, “Bring jewelry to life with delicate grain designs”. On the very bottom of the advertisement is the brands name, Pandora, in big bold letters. Lastly, in the top right corner are two books that match the background colour laid asymmetrically on top of each other. The bottom book also has a spiral, branch-like pattern to add to the nature themes clearly presented throughout the ad.
This image clearly tries to depict the beauty of nature through the beauty of jewelry. This is clear through the main headline, “Inspired By Nature”. I believe this advertisement does a great job at portraying that message. The simplistic design and nature themes in the jewelry shown are an excellent idea in today’s world that is so focused on protecting and preserving the planet. Perfect for this product since jewelry has commonly been used to preserve memories and moments in time throughout history. This advertisement also attempts to add a sense of sophistication. The books in the top right corner add an indirect message that purchasing the product would be an intelligent and sophisticated choice. Due to the qualities society associates with books, the subtle addition of two books in the corner is a great idea for this product. Each element of the advertisement works well together in conveying its message in a simple and elegant way.
This advertisement was found outside of a local jewelry store. The ad was large and noticeable under the stores large, bright sign and was still easily seen in the nighttime. The advertisement was next to two others, but Pandora’s managed to stand out the most. The ad is very effective in targeting jewelry shoppers who also have a love for nature. This is a great advertisement for the beautiful British Columbia as appreciation for nature is deeply rooted in the culture here. The company Pandora is also very popular in BC which makes the ad instantly eye catching.
The Danish company Pandora is also environmentally friendly in its practices. In an article by GreenBiz written in June of 2020 states, “71 percent of the silver and gold in Pandora jewelry comes from recycled sources”. Despite those great numbers, the company’s current goal is, “By 2025, Pandora…will use 100% recycled silver and gold in its products.”. This is incredibly impressive for one of the world’s largest jewelry companies to achieve and shows that preserving nature is truly a priority for Pandora.
