This advertisement is located alongside a road just before the Hop N’ Hog Tap and Smokehouse and was created by the business owners. It advertises their food and beer just before the turnoff to their establishment to draw in business and new customers.

The pictures on the advertisement are clear, and the contrast between the background and the letters easily grab people’s attention. On the far left, there is the Hop N’ Hog logo which, while easy to see, is sidelined slightly by the advertisement itself. The words “Delicious BBQ and Cold Beer” are in bold, capitalized, white letters that are easy to see and read, even when driving down the road. Just below that in black letters outlined in white are the words “Next Right”, pointing people in the direction of the Hop N’ Hog. For really selling the BBQ and cold beer, at the very bottom center and right, there are two images of a plate of smoked meat, and two tall glasses of beer, creating a very appealing sample of what you would see if you were to go there. Lastly, at the very bottom left, under the logo, is the link to their website.

The effect this advertisement aims for is to draw in new business, and it does an excellent job of that. The focal points are concentrated to the center and right portions of the billboard, drawing your eyes to the product and the location of that product. The colours contrast well, are easy to look at, and the points of view of the food create an appetizing image.

Because this is a very small town that relies heavily on the tourist attraction of the Wells Grey Park, the target audience for this particular advertisement is the tourist traffic going up and down this road. I think that the image is very effective in terms of capturing the attention of that targeted audience. The road that both the Hop N’ Hog and the advertisement are on is the road up to the Wells Grey that’s right off the highway. It’s very noticeable, both from the pictorial elements that draw eyes towards it and because Clearwater doesn’t have much in terms of advertisements so billboards like this stand out quite a lot.

Hop N’ Hog is a locally owned business so I do recognize their logo, and it has become a very popular attraction for tourists who travel here to see the falls in the park.

Overall, the Hop N’ Hog has very highly regarded reviews on TripAdvisor, Google, verbal reviews from locals and tourists, and many other locations. As far as I know, they have not had to change anything in terms of how they run their business in order to appeal to customers more, or from any external factors. They have done extremely well since they first set up shop here in Clearwater, and even with the lack of tourists due to COVID-19, the locals have kept them fully booked most open nights.
