The advertisement that I had found was an ad made by Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Kamloops, BC. This advertisement is about promoting their newly arrived chicken sandwich. This ad consists of a picture of the sandwich with crispy chicken in it. The caption says, “It’s here” in order to attract customers to their new sandwich.

This ad was found in show within the Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen store in Kamloops, BC. The ad consists of bright orange color in dominance alongside white. The bright orange color depicts a foody vibe and is used to attract hungry customer to the store. The chicken sandwich picture in the ad is given a greater dominance, so that it creates a greater impact on the customer passing by the complex that are hungry. The sandwich also has crispiness shown in the ad, so that it seems delicious to people passing by and thus making the customer buy the sandwich.  The target customers are mainly the people who are fast food lovers and university students.  With minimal text in the ad, the image strongly makes an impact on the target customers to buy the product with its dominant colorants and graphics.

The reason for use of the tagline “it’s here” is that the sandwich has created a widespread hype across the U.S, before its introduction in Canada. From a report “The sandwich made headlines for rapidly selling out after it was released in the U.S. last year. But unlike last year’s U.S. frenzy, the Canadian launch requires crowd control as the COVID-19 pandemic keeps restaurant capacities limited.” (1)

From an another report “The Popeyes chicken sandwich has been a popular topic in the U.S. the past couple of months, with posts about the fast food flooding social media and customers starting fights when restaurants sell out. The sandwich has even been the subject of a Saturday Night Live sketch. This reaction left many Canadians wondering just how good this chicken sandwich was and in June some parts of Canada, specifically Edmonton, were given trial access to the popular item. This left Calgarians all the more curious — but the wait is now over. This past Monday, billboards and signs went up featuring the burger, leaving Popeyes Louisiana Kitchens in Calgary with lines out the door. And let’s just say reactions varied, with some Twitter users saying Americans hyped the burger a little too much, only for it to be dry. So, the Calgary Eyeopener sent restaurant critic Elizabeth Carson to brave the takeout line and assess just how good this sandwich really is.

“The chicken was moist. It had full coverage of the thick batter over the entire piece of chicken. It was crispy, it was crunchy, and it didn’t taste too salty or greasy, which is kind of amazing,” she said.

“And the toasted brioche bun was chewier and heavier than what a good bakery would produce. But actually, it wasn’t bad for fast food.” (2)
